Photography for Custom Home Builders in Charleston
Magazine grade photography of the homes you build, with licensing that works the way builders work.
I'm Drew Castelhano, an interiors and editorial photographer based in Charleston. I've spent 15 years photographing homes, and builders are half my working life. The other half is magazine work, and that combination is the point: when I shoot your projects, you get the same images, light, and styling standards that editors publish.
I photograph for builders like Southern Luxury Homes and Alair Charleston | Structures, and builder projects I've shot have been featured in Atlanta Style & Design, including The Dernehl Company. When a magazine features one of your homes, that's not just a pretty credit. It's proof for the next client that your work belongs in print, and it's marketing material you'll use for years.
Photography that survives the schedule
I know what a finished home actually looks like on photo day: punch lists running late, landscaping going in that morning, a designer still styling shelves at noon. I shoot with hard, sculpted light, so I'm not waiting on perfect weather or fighting flat rooms. Moody and dramatic when the architecture calls for it, bright and clean when your market does. The project dictates the look, and you approve the direction before we shoot.
Licensing that works the way builders work
Every image you license comes with a perpetual, non exclusive license across all media, worldwide. Your website, your social, your portfolio, your advertising, your award entries, forever, with no renewal fees. Copyright stays with me, and files can't be handed to unrelated third parties. Everyone else who wants the images, the designer, the realtor, the trades, licenses directly from me, so you're never paying for someone else's marketing.
Split the shoot with your designer
Most custom homes have at least two parties who need photography, the builder and the designer. Book the shoot together and the cost drops for both of you while each of you gets full usage rights. The math is on my rates page, along with a calculator that shows exactly what each party pays. One shoot day, one set of magazine grade images, split cost.
Where I work
I'm based in Charleston and shoot across the Lowcountry, including Kiawah Island, Daniel Island, Sullivan's Island, Isle of Palms, and Mount Pleasant, with no travel charge inside Charleston County. Within 100 miles it's a flat $350, and beyond that, including Atlanta and the wider Southeast, travel is quoted with the project.
The practical details
A full day is $2,000 and a half day is $1,000, with images at $175 each and package tiers on the rates page. A $500 deposit holds your date, standard turnaround is three weeks, and rescheduling is free with 48 hours notice, which matters when a CO slips. If a magazine features the project later, I handle that side too, since editorial placement is half of what I do.
Tell me about the project you're finishing, and let's put it in front of the people who'll build your next one.
